About Moi

Hi, I'm Jeff Tidwell. I'm an online community pioneer with 20 years of experience connecting regular people with compelling digital experiences across a variety of communities. I think these experiences will get much more visual and physically engaged (not typing on a little computer). I've done all of this great work with lots of great people who aren't mentioned here.
I am currently the Creative Director for BabyCenter.com. I was a founder and CD of Chirp Interactive, Inc. and sometimes consultant working with Navigenics.com, The David Allen Company and other savvy entrepreneurs. I was the Director of Panel and Community Products for MarketTools. I was the Director of User Experience for WebMD in New York and Atlanta.
I dropped out in 2001 and went beachside on Kauai for 3 years where I operated the Aloha Dude Vacation Rental and Internet Hut and recovered from the first boom-bust.
In 2000 I developed the online community Cancer Buddies and email communications programs for Oncology.com as Director of Community. I was a Senior Product Manager for E*TRADE producing the online community for the online financial hub and brokerage. The community exceeded 800,000 very active members.
I produced the prototype Kids Online Community NvolveKids sold to Nickelodeon Online, and developed the website and beta marketing communications programs for software maker Actioneer. In 1996 I was the recipient of a grant from the San Francisco Examiner for an arts and politics site, Foundry, which he created in collaboration with the San Francisco Digital Media Center (now Storycenter.org).
In the old BBS days, I developed an online campus for the Electronic University Network, the first online service to offer distance learning in a collaborative hypertext bulletin board environment.
A real long time ago I worked for newspapers, art directed night clubs, managed bands, went to discos, and sold Ansel Adams prints while wearing white gloves.
